A series of explosions in south Philadelphia ripped through the East Coast’s largest gasoline refinery complex Friday morning.
A huge fire erupted after three explosions in a vat of propane, the company said. Earlier, the fire department said the blast occurred in a butane vat. The blaze turned the predawn sky orange and was felt miles away, according to reports.
Five injuries were reported by officials at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery and the Philadelphia fire department.
